On May 26, Professor Jang Jun-ho (Department of Civil Engineering) won a prize from the Ministry of Public Administration and Security at Disaster Prevention Day conducted in Daegu.
Professor Jang Jun-ho said, “It is an honor for me to win the prize. I want to continue to study prevention systems for climatic change and green growth prevention systems, cooperating with international disaster prevention research institutes. I will do my best to prevent disasters.”
He also said, “I have already recognized the importance of disaster prevention. We need to have well-equipped disaster prevention programs in advance to save lives from natural disasters since we cannot predict natural disasters. Also we need to have information and knowledge about disaster prevention.”
Professor Jang studied natural disasters and earthquakes as a researcher at the University of California, Berkeley. Nowadays, he works as a member of the Evaluation Committee of the Ministry of National Defense and the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology. He gives special lectures to public officials about disaster prevention.
