Prime Ministerial Citation

On May 20, the Korea Immigration Service selected Keimyung University as a recipient of a Prime Ministerial Citation for social integration of a multi-cultural society at the 3rd Together Day. Prime Ministerial Citations were given to four organizations, and the Maeil Shinmun and Keimyung University were selected in Daegu.

Together Day started in 2007. Its purpose is to help society and people from diverse nations or cultural backgrounds understand and respect one other. This year, the awards ceremony was held in Seoul Plaza. Around six hundred people, including the prime minister, ministers of other related government departments, and foreign workers attended the ceremony. After the ceremony, there were events such as a walkathon and an international cultural festival.

Keimyung University got credit for studying multi-cultural society, establishing the Center for Research and Education for a Multi-cultural Korea in the International Education Center, and leading a multi-cultural policy based on international exchange relationships. Keimyung University has established Korean schools not only in Korea but also in foreign countries to promote Korean culture and language. In addition, Keimyung University has awarded scholarships to poor foreign students.
