The Apple team, composed of three students from the Department of Tourism Management, was awarded the second prize at the university student idea contest for development of local tourism policies held under the auspices of the Tourism Sciences Society of Korea and the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism. Approximately 90 teams from other universities participated in this contest.

The team submitted a policy idea with the title “City Card.” They received high praise for creativity, the practicality of their proposal, and the ripple effect on the local economy. In addition, they got a certificate of award and prize money of 500,000 won.

The main point of their project is comfortable use of public transportation in cities, which get much of their income from tourism, by offering discounts on tour packages, and by promoting the use of cultural facilities such as culture and art centers through the city card system. The city card is a flat rate card which is connected to traffic, culture, and tourism.
