On November 10, an international exchange program with Algoma University was introduced in the multimedia room, New Bauer Hall, at 2 p.m.
The talk started with an introduction of Keimyung’s international exchange programs. First, the exchange scholarship program in which Keimyung students can study in sister schools was introduced. The next program where Keimyung students can participate was the European Union Industrialized Countries Instrument Education Cooperation Program which enables students to study in four European universities. The four countries are England, Poland, Finland, and Slovenia. This program gives students the chance to apply for internship programs and to learn in the university at the same time. Students can take part in this program only in the second semester of 2010. The third program was SAP (Study Abroad Program) in which students can learn foreign languages and also experience other countries’ cultures.
Algoma University, a Keimyung sister school in Canada, was introduced by Joanne Elvy, the ESL (English as a Second Language) director in Algoma University. She explained that Algoma University is well-known for its departments of business management, psychology, and geography. Elvy also said students who are preparing to study abroad should be very careful to choose exchange programs which have services for exchange students, for example, foreign language programs.
