Twelve Keimyung University students including Park Jae-wook and Lim Hyun-chul, who are Hyundai-Kia automotive research scholarship students, received the highest award for their car “Cuties” at the final of the Hyundai-Kia Automotive Research Scholarship Student Design Contest.
Cuties was completely made by the students, from its design and assembly to the installation of new technology. The main parts of the car made use of parts from secondhand cars. Cuties is the result of 9 months’ effort and received high scores for its appearance and engine capacity.
Park Jae-wook and Lim Hyun-chul are students in the Department of Automotive Engineering. They were chosen as recipients of the fifth Hyundai-Kia research scholarships. They receive a 6 million won scholarship each year and more than three million won for automobile production costs. Furthermore, they will be admitted into the Hyundai-Kia Automotive Research Institute after their graduation in 2010.
Han Mun-sik, a professor in the Department of Automotive Engineering and the advising professor of Hyundai-Kia automotive research scholarship students, said, “It is so encouraging that Keimyung graduates got the highest awards for two consecutive years against 120 national research scholarship students. This result can be attributed to cultivating talent through specialized education. Keimyung University always welcomes passionate students who wish to become automobile experts.”
