On October 9, Keimyung Art Center had its grand opening ceremony on Seongseo campus. The inaugural ceremony and opening ceremony were held together. The opening ceremony showed the three most-beloved love operas of Giacomo Puccini : Madam Butterfly Act 1, La Bohème Act 3, and Turandot Act 3.
The performance was done with cooperate works : Kim Wan-joon, General director; Kawahara Hiroyuki, Director and Professor of Osaka College of Music; Szymon Kawalla, Conductor of the opera company and a Professor of Poland; F. Chopin, Academy of Music; and Park Ji-woon, Conductor of the chorus and the Leader of Daegu City Opera.
Keimyung Art Center has two stories below and three above the ground and it is furnished with 1954 seats for guests. As a multipurpose art center, it is expected that the center can accomplish grand-scale performances of operas, musicals, various concerts, plays, and dancing.
Starting with the three most-beloved operas of Giacomo Puccini, the coming performance schedules are as follows: The Last Empress (October 17-19), Haydn's Oratorio; The Creation (October 25), Beethoven´s 9th Symphony; Choral Symphonien (November 3), and the musical Mammamia! (November 17-January 4, 2009).
Keimyung Art Center will successfully fulfill its role as the front-runner of art centers in Daegu, through its comfortable facilities and well-prepared planning of many genres of various performances.
