Korean Fantasy


The Jang Yoo-kyung Dance Company, led by Professor Jang Yoo-kyung of Keimyung University’s Department of Dance, will participate in the 2011 Liaoning Arts Festival. They will perform “Korean Fantasy” in four cities in China.

The Liaoning Theater Association and Shenyang City government jointly will sponsor the 2011 Liaoning Arts Festival, which is the biggest performance event in the northeast of China. Each city of Liaoning jointly will carry out this event. There are 14 cities in Liaoning

“Korean Fantasy” is composed of the stories of Chuyong, from a Silla Dynasty story, Korean fan dance, Arirang, and interpretative dance based on Korean traditional dance. Through these dance performances, people can see creative aspects of Korean dance based on traditional South Korean folk and court dance. Furthermore, the theme song from the drama Dae Jang Geum and Tibetan Plateau, which is loved by Chinese, will be played.

Professor Jang, who is in charge of all the choreography for “Korean Fantasy,” said, “Through this opportunity, I want Korean cultural arts to be known in China. I am doing my best with my troupe members to make the best performance.”
