Local Business Innovation


On March 24, Professor Lee Sam-pin’s research team in the Department of Food Science and Technology and Jeonjin Bio, a local company, were selected for the Local Business Innovation program supported by the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology and the National Research Foundation of Korea. The project aims at fostering talented young people and developing technology with local companies.

Lee Sam-pin’s research team and Jeonjin Bio are going to develop eco-friendly substances for wiping out pests like ants and mosquitoes. They will be supported with 360,000,000 won in total over three years. They are going to start research next month. The team is composed of five master’s degree researchers and one senior undergraduate researcher.

Professor Lee Sam-pin said, “If the university and Jeonjin Bio develop new products together, it will create a win-win situation. This program gives the university excellent research opportunities and an excellent research environment, and the local company can train the researchers in the skills they need.

This year, four universities including Keimyung University, Kyungpook University, Yeungnam University, and Daegu University were selected in the Daegu-Gyeongbuk region.
