Center for IT-Medical Device Convergence


Getting a job is becoming more difficult day by day. Therefore, lots of students are worried about qualifying themselves for a job. In Keimyung, there is a very helpful program named the Center for IT-Medical Device Convergence. This center offers many helpful programs.

The Center for IT-Medical Device Convergence was founded in June 2009. The Ministry of Education, Science, and Technology gave about 25 billion won to this center, and professors, students, and graduate school students of ten departments participate in this program.
The students taking part in this program are trained to be experts having not only professional knowledge of medical appliance IT technology but also foreign language skills. They are expected to play an important role in the industry of Daegu and Gyeongbuk.

Background of the Center



The Ministry of Education, Science and Technology made a special program to develop human resources, and Keimyung was selected as a supporting university. The Ministry selected two hundred and fifty centers from nineteen universities for this program and our university was selected in IT technology and special medical machines. The center was given 25 billion won, and it will support local industry and educate students with that money. About 1000 students who major in computer engineering, electronics engineering, mechanical and automotive engineering, advanced materials engineering, industrial and management engineering, chemistry, public health, biology, and statistics will be educated in four fields such as video diagnosis, mobile health care, and physical function recovery.

Goals of the Center
SMART is the acronym of this center's goal. The first letter "S" is from specialty, training specialists for information technology, biology technology, and nano-technology. "M" is from moral, training professionals who have morality and a global mind. "A" is from active, training inventive and active students. "R" is from regional, training students who have the abilities regional companies require. The last letter "T" is from technical, training practical business specialists who have international competitiveness.
