Did you watch a movie called ‘Your Name’? The Japanese animation movie, ‘Your Name’ released in the early of this year and was a big hit. The original novel of the animation film ‘Your Name’ was personally written by a master of Japanese animation director, Shinkai Makoto. Director Makoto novelized his work with a delicate touch.
At first, he didn't think that he was going to write a novel, but for complementary roles with animation, he finished writing three months before the movie was completed. Unlike the movie focused on love between a man and a woman transcending time and space, there is another message in the novel. The world keeps telling us something that comes down from the past, but we live by erasing it ourselves although we have it in our memory. And it definitely returns someday and is coming back to us like a miraculous love, so it delivers a message that we should live beautifully and keep struggling to remember this.
Mitsuha, a high school girl living in a rural town in Japan’s mountainous region, wishes she were a boy who lives in a big city Tokyo. Meanwhile, Taki, a high school boy living in Tokyo, dreams that he becomes a girl who lives in the mountainous town. Soon, both realize that they switch their bodies in the dream. However, from one day, they didn't exchange their bodies anymore and Taki tries to seek out Mitsuha relying on his memory in the dream.
If you enjoy the movie ‘Your Name’ , you can also enjoy reading the book. I recommend this book is good to read because you can think about the message in the movie one more time.
