Let's Go on a Visit

Street Gallery in Daejeon

We can easily think that enjoying art is a very royal thing. We also have to pay expensive fees for appreciating art works in galleries. Because of these things, art seems like it is separated from us. Well, don't think like this anymore. I will tell you about good places to enjoy art easier and better than before.

I found awesome places in Daejeon. Daejeon is a little bit far from Daegu, but you can go there easily by KTX. It just takes 50 minutes from Dong Daegu station to Daejeon Station. And don't worry about the distance between the train station and galleries. They are close to Daejeon station and downtown Daejeon.

● Daedong Mural Village and Sky Park

By subway, you can go to this place so easily. You have to take a subway from Daejeon station. In front of the station, you can find the subway station easily. Take line 1 and go to Daedong Station. It takes 5-10 minutes. When you arrive at Daedong station, find exit no. 8 and go straight until you find a bakery. At that bakery, turn right and go straight. It might be a little steep. You will see Daedong Welfare Center if you keep going straight. There are many murals around the welfare center and some pretty, painted houses. By walking along the walls with murals, you can find the entrance of Sky Park. Take the stairs to the top of Daedong where you can enjoy the sights of Daejeon.

There is an observatory that looks like a windmill. On the right side, you can see a cute bear couple on a bench. There is a popular site for photographers because it is a good place to take great pictures. One more thing, this place is also popular for bringing dates. Actually, when I went there, I met many people who were with their lovers. After seeing Sky Park, go down to the village. You can find many artistic things around the village. I recommend you bring a lunch box and other things to eat, so you can enjoy yummy food and pretty sights at the same time.

☆ Tips

Before leaving Daejeon, enjoy Sungsim Bakery's bread. It’s located near Daejeon station, downtown in Daejeon, Eunhang Dong. I recommend you eat Squids' ink bread and fried pineapple bun (Korean usually call this bread by the Japanese name, 'Soboro').

You can try every kind of bread before buying. There are also many restaurants nearby, so you can enjoy many different kinds of food.
