KMU “Music Virus”

Music Virus, supported by KMU, is a program to help children in disadvantaged families. The children who have been helped by the program become a sensation because they performed lots of performances for senior citizens. Through this program, KMU students majoring in music give the disadvantaged children piano and vocal lessons and develop the musical talent of the children.

Music Virus is offering one-to-one individualized instruction with specialized music education taught by students studying for a master’s degree in music in Keimyung University. The tuition costs only 10,000won~20,000won for each person. Music Virus officials hosted the Music Virus Festival at Daegu Namsan Social Welfare Center on November 26. In this event, the children played the piano, sang, danced and played the drums for the disabled and disadvantaged people.

The children spent a good time with 40 disabled people at Daegu Namsan Social Welfare Center. Joe Seong-suk, the chief of Daegu Local Welfare Enterprise, said, “The goal of Music Virus is to give the children a positive mind, and we are going to have more chances like this festival.” Kim Joo-hoon, a participant in the festival, said, “Music Virus was a good experience for me. I learned to play the piano and sing with friends through this program. I hope to have more chances.”
