First Prize at the First National Russian Speech Contest.

Keimyung University freshman Jeong Sa-rang, often called a linguistic genius, won first prize in the university section of the first national Russian speech contest. The contest, in which 80 teams participated, was held at Yonsei University. Sa-rang’s five minute speech was entitled “What I know about Russia.”

The judges were unsparing in their praise for her at the awarding ceremony which was held in the hall of the Korea Economic Daily. Sa-rang was the youngest of all the prize winners. When she was14 years old, she entered Keimyung University. Now she is a freshman in the Faculty of Russian Language and Literature. She said, “I am happiest when I’m studying Russian. I have a plan to study abroad at Russia’s Saint-Petersburg University and earn a plural degree. I will do my best for my dream which is to become the youngest Russian professor.”
